Stepping Stones
When I think of stepping stones I always think of life.
Life, to me, is simply a series of stepping stones. Each one either leading us toward our God or away from Him. Even sitting still can cause us to grow stagnant. So we need to constantly move forward choosing each stepping stone wisely.
According to Ask.com most individuals make thousands of decisions each day. They range from very small to huge in nature. Most of us spend more time choosing a car than we would a milk shake, and rightly so.
But, how much thought do we put into how the decisions we make affect our relationship with God? His standards are set very high and we cannot obtain them without His help. I don’t believe the fact that we will have to rely on Him to help us is an accident. I believe it is divine providence.
I have heard it said that God doesn’t care how I talk, what I watch, or how I spend my time. It’s sad really. It seems we can’t see our own vices. The drunkard makes excuses for his addiction to alcohol. The gossip disguises himself as a caring friend. The liar can see no reason that lying is a problem as long as it is for a good cause. But, if we cut to the heart of the situation we will still find an alcoholic, a gossip, and a liar and according to God all of this is sin.
We can either face the facts head on and humble ourselves before God, asking for His mercy; or we can continue to be deceived into thinking that God is okay with the sins we have become comfortable with.
So, make your choices wisely. Because the wrong stone could have you stepping out further than you ever meant to go. And we don’t want to get stranded with remorse and guilt now do we.
And whatever you do, weather in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:17 NIV
